There are a staggering number of orphan's worldwide; over 143 million children are considered orphans by
one definition or another. There are many uncounted that live on the streets, in landfills and sewer systems.
Often orphan children that are not cared for turn to a life of crime in order to survive. They are subjected to
human trafficking, prostitution, child labor and worse. Many of these children die of starvation, malnutrition
related illnesses, preventable diseases and acts of violence. Many will spend much of their life in jail or prison.

*Orphan by unicef defintion includes children that have lost one or both parents. We have children in our care that are part of this number. It is often the case that a cild with only one parent can not care for the children alone, by providing them a home and educating these children, they are given an opportunity they would not have living in a single parent enviroment.
