INDIA

In India more than 47% of the young children are malnourished and there are 400 million under the age of 18. Poor infrastructure, slow to moderate social development and social inequity due to deep rooted political and cultural/religious conflicts have resulted in a large poverty line! Many of the orphans belong to social and cultural or religious minorities that live throughout the 550,000 villages in rural India. Poor social status has left these children with little or no help and many are subjected to forced labor and slavery just to survive.  Your support for a child or home in our India program will provide the love and care needed to help a child get on the right path for nutrition, education and spiritual wellbeing.

SWAP TRUST

History: Orphan’s Lifeline began helping Agape Children’s Home in Coimbatore, India when it opened in 2005. In 2006 assistance to Rose of Sharon Children’s Home in Paruvakkudi, India began. We started receiving reports in early 2018 of the burning of Bibles and persecution of Christians in the state including attacks on churches, ministers and believers. The government began discouraging the existance of orphan homes, preferring the children to be back with relatives and for charities to support the families in order to care for the children. The pandemic of 2019 propelled this plan forward quicker than anyone expected. And so the SWAP Trust (Serve the Woman And Poor) mission was modified to care for all of our previous children from the two homes and for many more orphaned children and widows in the surrounding communities. Now, our Family Care Program provides food, healthcare, spiritual guidance, psychological support and education for the children and also food for their relative/caretaker in the home.
